There's a moment most of us know. The day has been too loud, too fast, too much. You want to escape for a few minutes — somewhere that isn't demanding anything of you — and your phone is already in your hand.
Most of what's on it was built to keep you there.
Pause Tiles wasn't. A small, beautiful world appears on your screen — hand-cut paper tiles, each one shaped by human hands before it ever became digital. A forest. Animals to find, flowers to gather. No scores, no timers, no streaks, no noise. Nothing to lose, and nothing chasing you.
You match tiles. The board slowly clears. When a chipmunk offers you a strawberry, you can't help but smile.
Then you look up, and put the phone down, and go back to your life — which is the whole point.
Every tile begins as a real piece of card stock, cut with scissors and arranged by hand before it's photographed. The art is made by Debby, a writer and paper artist. The app is built by Nick, a senior software engineer and AI specialist. They are mother and son.
